Every cable has a story - Every project has a purpose

Industries We Empower

Every cable has a story. Every project has a purpose.

At Industrial & Cable Group, we know that a control cable or rod end is rarely "just another part."

Behind every order is a project, a challenge to overcome, or a piece of machinery that needs to keep working. Sometimes it's a farmer preparing for harvest. Sometimes it's an engineer designing a custom solution. And every now and then, it's something straight out of the movies.

We feel privileged to play a small part in these incredible projects and love hearing how our products help bring ideas to life.

Here are just a few recent projects that caught our attention.

Keeping Australia's Action Heroes Moving

One recent order included six of our heavy-duty 60 Series control cables together with matching rod ends.

The destination? A confidential Australian film production working on an upcoming action movie.

While we can't reveal the title just yet, it's exciting to know our components are helping create specialised mechanical control systems used during filming. Whether operating custom-built vehicles, special effects or stunt equipment, reliability isn't optional—it's essential.

When cameras are rolling, every movement needs to be predictable and every component needs to perform exactly as intended. We're proud that our products can contribute to the safety of actors, stunt performers and production crews while supporting Australia's growing film industry.

Sometimes the most exciting projects are the ones we can't talk about... at least not yet.

Helping Keep a Toft 7000 Cane Harvester in the Field

Another memorable order came from a Queensland cane farmer restoring and maintaining a classic Toft 7000 Cane Harvester.

The project required one of our heavy-duty RVC control cables to replace a worn component and keep this iconic machine operating reliably through the demanding harvest season.

The Toft harvesters, designed and built in Bundaberg, represent an important chapter in Australian agricultural engineering. Seeing these machines continue to work decades later is a testament to their design—and to the owners who keep them running.

We're proud that a simple replacement cable can help extend the life of these remarkable machines and support the hardworking growers who rely on them.

Engineering Freedom Back onto Two Wheels... Well, Three.

One of the most rewarding projects we've been involved with recently wasn't about machinery at all—it was about restoring independence.

A customer ordered a large quantity of heavy-duty rod ends as part of a custom engineering project to convert a motorcycle into a trike for a rider living with a disability.

The precision rod ends form part of the steering and suspension linkages required for the conversion, helping create a safe, reliable machine tailored to the rider's individual needs.

For many people, motorcycles represent freedom, adventure and independence. Knowing our products are contributing to a project that will allow someone to once again feel the wind on their face and enjoy the open road reminds us that engineering isn't just about metal and machinery.

Sometimes it's about changing lives.

We'd Love to Share Your Story

Whether you're repairing heavy machinery, designing innovative equipment, restoring a classic vehicle, building a race car, creating something entirely unique or simply keeping your business running, we'd love to hear about it.

Every order has a purpose, and every project has a story worth telling.

If you've used Industrial & Cable Group products in an interesting application, send us your photos and tell us about your project. With your permission, we'd love to feature it in a future edition of our Industries We Empower series.

Because behind every component is someone building, fixing, creating or making life better—and that's a story worth sharing.

About: Mark Middleton is the founder of Industrial & Cable Group, an Australian-owned and operated supplier of motion control cables, controls, and accessories for industrial and marine applications. Industrial & Cable Group is a sister company to Multiflex Australia, a long-standing manufacturer in the cable and motion control space, and draws on that same manufacturing heritage and product knowledge. Mark brings more than two decades of hands-on experience in the cable and motion control trade, with a background rooted in the manufacturing side of the industry — knowledge gained from actually producing this componentry, not just selling it. Industrial & Cable Group was launched to make that same manufacturing-grade product more accessible to the wider Australian and New Zealand market, with a 24/7 online service built around quality, fast turnaround, and straightforward access to the right parts. Mark's guiding principle for the business is simple: idle machinery doesn't turn a profit. Drawing on real-world experience specifying, manufacturing, and troubleshooting cable and control systems, Mark's articles are written to give tradespeople and engineers practical, field-tested guidance — not generic theory — across trucking, transport, mining, earthmoving, construction, marine, agriculture, and motor racing applications.
